Shockwave
Therapy Treatment
Shockwave therapy known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive and highly effective treatment technique used on soft tissue injuries including, muscle, tendon and plantar fascia. Shockwave is primarily used in the treatment of chronic injuries that have reached non-healing states, however, can be used on acute injuries.
Shockwave therapy is clinically proven to stimulate metabolic reactions. It activates the healing process by provoking an acute phase of healing and by stimulating enzymes involved in reducing pain, resulting in a high rate of success. .
The application of Shockwave:
Shockwave is a non-invasive safe alternative steroid, injection therapy and in some cases surgery. It is evidence-based and can be used to treat most common tendon injuries including, tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis and Rotator Cuff tendonitis. Shockwave is also highly effective in muscular injuries such as gluteal pain, hamstring, calf and quadriceps pain
How Shockwave will help:
Shockwave is delivered directly onto the affected body site. Shockwave therapy uses low-energy acoustic waves. It is a targeted therapy only hitting the affected area, once through the skin, it radiates throughout the injured muscle, tendon or joint. It normally takes 3-5 sessions to achieve maximum results.
